Holy Week and Easter 2025
We warmly invite you to our special services for Holy Week and Easter 2025. A list of all these services is available for download here.
Holy Week marks the most serious and most important week of the year for Christians. Through our range of different services, we seek to follow Jesus on his journey to the cross, experiencing the drama of the Gospel narratives and the many strong emotions of the week, before joining together on Easter Sunday in joyful celebration of the Resurrection. Whether this is a story we know well, or whether we are hearing it for the first time this year, there will always be something new to discover, as we reflect afresh on the God who "so loved the world that he gave his only Son". (John 3:16).
On Palm Sunday, we celebrate Jesus' triumphal entry to Jerusalem and then, in common with churches throughout the Church of England, will retell the whole of the story of the week, up to Jesus' death on the cross. Our service will be suitable for all ages, and will include breakfast, craft activities, dramatised readings, music and singing, videos and interactive prayer. We will meet from 10am at our Holy Trinity Site to begin the narrative and will walk together from there to our St John's Site where we will take up the story again.

On Monday 14th April from 7.30pm, we will be offering a quiet space at our Holy Trinity Site to reflect upon the Stations of the Cross, with scripture, poetry and images to help us reflect. We will spend time in quiet prayer, with the opportunity to join together for Compline at 9pm.

On Maundy Thursday, in our reflective Communion service at 7.30pm at our Holy Trinity Site, we focus on the events of the night before Jesus' death. We begin in an atmosphere of bustling conviviality, as the disciples gather in the Upper Room for what we know as the Last Supper, reflect with them on the surprise of Jesus, their Lord and Saviour, washing their feet, and end in sadness and disarray in Gethsemane, as Jesus is arrested and the disciples scatter.

The atmosphere will change somewhat for Good Friday morning, as we welcome you to Messy Easter at 10am at our St John's Site. Here, we will explore the story of Good Friday and celebrate Easter (a little early!) through crafts, activities, games, story and song. All are welcome to this Intergenerational Service - activities will be especially planned with children up to age 11 in mind.

Also on Good Friday, at 2.30pm, we gather at our Holy Trinity Site to spend an hour at the foot of the cross, reflecting on the moment of Jesus' death for us. This will be a quiet, reflective service, with a mixture of readings, prayers, music and silence to help guide our reflection. For this service, we are pleased to join with the regular Friday prayers at Living Well Bromley.

At 5.45am on Easter Sunday, the cry "Alleluia! Christ is risen!" will ring out from the grounds of our Holy Trinity Site as the larks among us gather at sunrise to celebrate the moment of Resurrection. This is a short service with music, readings and prayers, and will be followed by breakfast together.

If you are not a lark, do join us at 10.30am on Easter Sunday at our St John's Site for our All Age Celebration for Easter Day. There will be lots of joyful singing, readings, a short sermon; we will share Communion together, and there may be a special item from the vicar, which will probably involve chocolate!
